We’re really glad you’re here.
Hi, I'm Alyssa – Founder & Fear Free Certified Groomer
With over 13 years in the pet care and grooming industry, I’ve had the privilege of working with both dogs and cats, and every pet brings something unique to my table. I’ve built my career around a deep understanding of behavior, skincare, and low-stress handling—tailoring each experience to help pets feel safe and supported. I’m also trained to spot subtle health changes—like lumps, skin flare-ups, or ear infections—so I can refer pet parents to their vet for science-backed solutions.
I began as a self-taught groomer, though we have no licensing or certification requirements I was driven by a love for animals and a determination to give them the care they truly deserve. Over the years, I’ve continued my education through seminars and expos learning from top industry leaders and always staying curious.
While emotional wellness is at the heart of my approach, I also have a deep love for the creative and technical side of grooming. I specialize in teddy bear clips, modified breed trims, and double-coated breeds, and I’m currently expanding my skills in Asian fusion styling. Precision, detail, and making pets look (and feel) their best is what keeps me inspired every day.
As a Fear Free Certified Professional and participant in the AKC S.A.F.E. Salon Program, I believe grooming should never be rushed or one-size-fits-all. My approach is about meeting pets where they are, working within their comfort zones, and helping them build confidence with every visit—because confidence starts with comfort, and ends with a great haircut.
At home, I’m outnumbered by a husky, two poodles, a yorkie, and two small children who double as full-time chaos coordinators. They don’t come to the salon often (you’re welcome), but they do make frequent appearances in my stories—because if you’ve met me, you’ve probably heard about at least one of them. Between the snuggles, the messes, and dramatic reenactments of life’s greatest tragedies (like mismatched socks or invisible injuries), they keep life interesting… and they’re the heart behind everything I do.
Meet Jen – Groomer-in-Training
Jen is our resident ray of sunshine with a cosmetology background, a heart for animals, and a knack for making pets feel like royalty—even if it means narrating their spa day in a British accent. She’s currently in training and learning the ropes hands-on here at Adelaide’s Haven, where she’s mastering low-stress handling, grooming techniques, and the subtle art of earning a tail wag from even the most skeptical pup.
She’s especially fond of Yorkies (she has one at home who runs the show) and approaches every groom with a perfectionist’s eye and a genuine love for the little details that make a big difference. Jen is also certified in Pet First Aid & CPR and shares our salon’s commitment to keeping pets safe, comfortable, and—let’s be honest—looking fabulous.
Jen is now welcoming her own clients with slightly discounted rates—not because her talent is discounted, but because we believe in rewarding those who love supporting up-and-coming groomers. She’s got the skill, the eye, and the heart—it’s just the speed we’re fine-tuning. Think of it as boutique grooming with a side of extra patience and theatrical levels of emotional support.
Outside the salon, Jen is a mom of three, which means she’s well-versed in multitasking, snack negotiations, and staying calm under pressure—skills that somehow translate perfectly to grooming. You’ll know she’s nearby when you hear cheerful commentary, a sudden cackle, or your dog receiving the most encouraging monologue of their life.
